For many applications, replacing the cube on the common adaptor place with an extension plate adaptor will reduce weight and achieve optimal stiffness and accuracy in a stylus system. If there are no features in the X or Y direction, or a Z direction extension is needed, the top cube should be removed. Designers should also use as few connections as possible and the threaded connections of the cube are not ideal and should be avoided. It is also particularly important to achieve the best possible stiffness in the region near the plate where the forces levers of the stylus system are greatest.
